Cybersecurity in Asia-Pacific: Regional Threats and the CISO Response

Asia-Pacific has emerged as one of the most targeted regions for cybercrime globally. With rapid digital transformation, explosive fintech growth and increasing geopolitical tensions, organisations from Singapore to Tokyo face a new wave of sophisticated, AI-enhanced cyber threats.

Changi Times spoke with Professor Kai London — CISO, Cybersecurity Executive and AI Security Strategist — to understand the APAC cyber threat landscape in 2026 and how boards should be responding.

"APAC is a particularly high-value target right now," Professor London explains. "Significant concentrations of financial services, manufacturing and critical infrastructure — all undergoing rapid digitalisation. At the same time, many organisations have historically underinvested in cybersecurity. That gap is being exploited aggressively."

Professor London identifies supply chain attacks as the dominant threat vector in APAC, alongside state-sponsored espionage targeting semiconductor manufacturers and healthcare institutions. His Zero Trust framework and AI-driven threat detection approach are increasingly adopted across the region.
